Celebrating it’s 10th anniversary, Nike’s Border Clash proved to be an event not to be missed. Nike once again brought together the best of the best high school cross country runners from Oregon and Washington, and raced them head to head to see who would take the title back across the border. Like previous years, Border Clash 10 did not disappoint. Four Nike Elites (all 2008 Beijing participants, too!) served as team captains for the four teams—Anna Willard (Washington girls), Shannon Rowbury (Oregon girls), Dathan Ritzenhein (Washington boys) and Nick Symmonds (Oregon boys). The Elites not only helped inspire and pump up the high school participants pre-race, but they were also on hand to cheer them on during the races and sign autographs post-race. And the Elites had a lot to cheer about. In the girls race, Oregon swept the top four places, scoring an outstanding 16 to Washington’s 40. Washington’s boys, however, were ready to clash and proved it. They not only scored a PERFECT 15 points (sweeping the top five places), but also got 14 of their boys in before Oregon’s first. Congratulations to all for yet another great Border Clash. Click here for complete results. And don’t forget to relive the race action! View video of the girls race or boys race. |
